Yes, our Ciliegiolo single vineyard “Vallerana Alta” is a “Slowine“. This is the award given to about 200 Italian wines – out of 20.000 – by the new edition of Slow Food Italian wine guide 2012. Which is, in fact, called Slowine.
That is how they define a Slowine:
These are the wines of the our heart, the wines that we would like to take with us when invited to a dinner. Not only because they are excellent wines, but also because these are wines that can tell a story, sometimes funny, sometimes moving, but always with the voice, and the hands, of winegrowers that really have a feeling with their land.
Yes, it’s true. We, me and Antonio, really believed in the Ciliegiolo grape. We really thought that we can do more than just a nice, simple, sometimes a bit rustic red wine from sunny Maremma. We now know, and everybody can tell when they drink this wine, that Ciliegiolo can actually combine two things: sunny character and elegance. Yes, it is a Mediterranean wine, with its ripe cherry and plum fruit, it has a good, flashy body, but it’s not heavy. It is, in fact, extremely drinkable, with refined and silky tannins that give the wine an amazing lightness, with all its 14% of alcohol. It also has a very, very long finish. Yes, I do like this wine.
Thank you Antonio Camillo for making me do it with you.

Congrats!!
Lo abbiamo appena portato su nel nostro negozio a Regensburg, ottimo!
