Ricevo la solita email dal mio agente in Ontario, che segnala un nuovo tender del monopolio dello Stato canadese, l‘LCBO. Riporto qui un estratto riguardante i requisiti che il vino ricercato deve avere:
This tender calls for wines from all areas, both Red and White of all varietals. This tender is entirely focused on accolades, scores, and reviews as the Buyers are looking for highly reviewed or established wines with great values in all price bands. Wines without strong accolades will not succeed in this tender so we ask that you suggest wines that have strong scores and medals.
Per i non anglofoni, essenzialmente dice: se non hai ricevuto premi, medaglie, punteggi alti dai vari guru del vino, e’ inutile che ti candidi, verrai scartato.
Capite perche’ esistono ancora, e sono sempre affollati di partecipanti, i vari Concour International de…, International Wine Competition…, per non parlare dei vari guru internazionali, sempre vezzeggiati dall’industria del vino. E le recensioni dei blog? No, quelle non contano, mi dispiace.

Hi GP, I share your pain. An added problem is that, even if you have submitted samples to the major reviewers with a realistic chance/hope of 90+ points, in most cases the results probably won’t be published until later in the year …..
At any rate, one of our wineries was chosen by LCBO Vintages recently and the resulting order was for 20 cases …. of 6 bts !
